The time arrived for Trick or Treat
Dressing 4 children was no small feat.
As for the children and their choice of dress
A pumpkin, a witch, Dracula, and a bat in distress.
The time had come to hit the road
But dad hadn't arrived
And his absence showed.

And his absence showed.
The girls with joy, kindly consented.
But, the big boy, amiss!
To make him a bat hat that would look cute, adorable...
A WINNER!
A WINNER!
The boy was insistent as evidenced by fits,
He would not wear the bat hat!
Not for any Britts!
Dad returned home in the nick of time.
To show the boy
the bat hat was more than fine.

Mom was stressed to the max,
When the doorbell sounded.
So much for keeping the excitement grounded.
The kids, ALL FOUR rushed to the front!
Mom, a bit frazzled, was urged to be blunt:
"Go home! No treats for anyone!
If you're looking for fish sticks
WE STILL HAVE SOME!"
The loveliest neighbors stood at the door,
They brought treasures and treats and goodies galore!
They get 1st place for best in the land.
Who visit the DeMills with love in their hands.
