Shortly after Coy was born we ventured out as a family (my mom included) to the
Circle S Pumpkin Farm a few short miles down the road from our home. Addie's entire preschool was invited along with Jack Frost! It was a cold night for early October! Although we were cold on the outside the laughter of our children kept us warm on the inside!
(Yes, that's sappy sarcasm at it's best and I apologize if you thought it was a sincere statement. If you did, you clearly do not know me). I digress.
AND back to sincerity...There is just something about corn stalks, pumpkins, and hay that makes for a grand time! As for me, it made for grand sneezing fits!
Don't waste your time looking for Coy in these pictures. This isn't a "Where's Waldo" sort of deal. There was a cold wind that night so he stayed bundled up in his car seat. No photo opp. for the new babe on this night.
We are still finding bits of hay around the house nearly a month later!
Do you know why Shyler is the cool parent? Because he doesn't obsess about foreseeable clean-up after all of the fun mess making is done. That's why he's very quick to say, "Girls! Climb on top of that hay stack and throw some in the air!" ( I must mention here that two seconds before he suggested this (so he could get a totally awesome spectacular National Geographic winning picture), I , (the very boring and mean parent) told the girls to drop the hay and to not even think about throwing it in the air.
Shyler is so lucky.
This was pre-hay throwing. Yes, they look happy, but do not be fooled. Behind those sweet smiles are devilish thoughts about throwing their mean, boring, mother off the haystack. Notice how they're sort of bent towards me with their hands on my back? This helps the momentum when hurling a grown woman down a 10 ft. pyramid of hay.
Dashle's not an innocent victim in his sisters' plotting either. They're all cohorts! They know if you stick the beefiest kid in mom's arms and then push this will help her fall and roll faster down the mountain. He's taking one for the team.

That looks like such a fun day. I am the same as you Britt. I always stress about the mess and Josh says, "They're kids, let them have fun." All right, all right. You look great by the way.

looks like a BLAST!! You clearly had more fun in october than we did -- no pumpkins on our door.. oh well! Your kiddos are growing up so dang fast! Hope all is well!
