Recently Emery came home from school and announced she had been selected as "Student of the Month." We know she is terrifically wonderful, fantastically super, and delightfully fabulous, but we were sort of thinking she was confused about whatever it was her teacher told her. We figured she was probably spotlight of the week or something like that in her kindergarten classroom. So, when she told Shyler and me again at the dinner table the same night we sort of looked at eachother and shrugged our shoulders communicating, "Okay, we'll just go with her on this one and see what happens." Emery came home the next day with certificates and gifts and coupons to at least six local restaurants for free food. So, she really was student of the month. We thought it was great. The school invited us to come in early the following week for juice and donuts to celebrate with the other handful of kids who had been chosen out of the 600 student elementary. She was chosen because she "consciously and consistently makes choices to be: Honest, Safe, Respectful, Caring, Responsible, and Striving for Growth." Shyler, naturally, had to be at work, but Addie and I were excited to go and celebrate with Emery. Well, we missed it because Addie got sick during the night. Shyler and I both felt bad and so here is the end of this long and boring monologue...we took the kids to Jolly Pirate Donuts the following Friday since Shyler was off and we had a very deliciously lovely time! Way to go Emery! We're grateful someone as super as you chose to come to our family and show us the way to be better!

YAY for Emery being student of the month! It sounds like you had lots of fun eating donuts! I'm afraid if i had a donut store like that by my house - I could keep it in business by myself!!
