We have what my youngest sister would call "besties" here in the Ohio. They were the first to welcome us into their home, feed us, and show up at our apt. door with moving gloves on. They offered support, encouragement, and occasional babysitting while we tried to figure out how to start navigating through our family's newest chapter entitled "residency." When we moved into our home they came with paint brushes and a crock pot dinner and asked what colors went on which walls. It is hard to find a good family where all the children get along, the wives are the best of friends, and the husbands are, too.
Some people are addicted to pain killers. Our family must be addicted to pain. Our children have suffered a number of "accidents" while in the presence of our "besties." Yet, regardless of our childrens afflictions, we forge ahead with the relationship peeling away more layers on the onion and discovering life is pretty sweet when you find friends you can count on.
Here are some BIG FAT for instances:
When your son burns his hands on the besties' grill they will offer to watch your other children while you go to the ER. They'll even make a plate for you and save it until you return.
When you invite them to a balloon festival and they bring along sparklers in which one of your children "accidentally" burns her finger they will scramble to find something cold to soothe the ache. The years following the incident they will loudly proclaim "no sparklers will be on the agenda when we get together."
When your daughter borrows one of their childrens scooters and kisses the pavement the besties will show an outpouring of sympathy accompanied by careful examination of the wound and consoling words.

As I ponder the injuries my children have incurred while in the presence of our most cherished friends I can't help but wonder if it is all just coincidental. I find it very peculiar that after Dashle burned his hands it was only a few weeks later that he earned his horn. Also, the day after Emery busted out her front tooth Addie received a slashing to the head with a rock. Apparently she was Goliath and Emery was David. A story the boys (who belong to our besties) are well versed in. If one were to trace back to the origins of these "accidents" it seems our besties reside as the common denominator.
I have blotted out their faces to protect their identities due to this realization.

And thus, I can only conclude that our besties must really be something special (or lethal) because we keep going to their home and inviting them to ours for dinners, and desserts, and breakfasts, and lunches, and make arrangements for double dates and temple trips and game nights and aerating/reseeding the lawn parties (hint, hint husbands).
Is it my obligation as Coy's mother to forewarn him of impending danger?

I think I recognize that family! Those are some brutal pics. It's a good think your husband is a doctor!
Oh my goodness, ouch! That tooth picture... yuck. Glad everyone is alive :)
It's nice to have besties...The identity of yours is not really a secret!
It is so nice to have besties. I am glad about yours, but not about the accidents happening around them:) Good times.
I think you should try to confront those supposed "besties" to ask them if they are trying to sabotage your family and what they are trying to accomplish. Just an FYI One who engages in sabotage is a saboteur. They look like such an innocent family.
Ahhh..true friends. You're definitely making memories with them! Hope Dashle's hands are doing okay.
It is fun to have best friends. I think they probably get hurt because they are having too much fun to be cautious about injuries. How nice to have friends to help us get through these injuries. Great post Britt.
