With our move to Ohio last year we relished at the prospect of growing a garden...something we really don't know much about except for the example of our parents and the fine tips they taught us while growing up. So, here is our first big adventure in gardening and it is turning out quite successful. We have friends who seem to be expert gardeners especially in the tomato specialties and we're grateful for their helpful hints and optimistic encouragement. We held a special FHE when we first put the garden in so the girls could gather some excitement and enthusiasm for the family project. We emphasized the importance of a garden and how the prophet has told us to plant one. We also mentioned that it was a good idea to frequently pray for our garden so the vegetables would grow and be edible. Emery and Addie were more than thrilled a few weeks later when the first buds starting showing up on our pepper and squash plants. They both stated they knew our garden was growing because they had been praying really hard for lots of rain to help the plants eat and grow. It was pretty cute. Since the time when we first built our garden we have established a bit of a tradition when Shyler comes home from work. We all put on our shoes and go check out the garden to see what is growing and what can be plucked off the plants for dinner. So far we have enjoyed a few banana peppers, green peppers, and zucchini. Yum. Dashle,of course, is hardly interested in looking at the garden. He likes the meatier things of life like the clumps of dirt he finds to chomp on while the rest of us observe the veggies that will adorn our plates in the coming weeks.

Great lookin' garden! There is nothing like "home grown goodies"!
You're the kind of mom that makes people think, "geez, she's amazing, how does she do it all!!!? (Great kids, great meals, clean and beautiful home, funny, righteous, beautiful, AND a garden!") If I weren't one of your best friends you'd intimidate me! HA! J/k! That's awesome Britt, I should follow your example. But, right now I dread 5 minutes outside unless I'm in a pool! HA! Gotta love AZ heat!
